Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) Online Application/Nomination for Volunteer Positions

Available Committee Opportunities:

AMP is currently recruiting volunteers to serve on the committees listed below. Apply for these opportunities by June 20, 2025 at 11:59PM ET.

Early Career Board Member

The Board of Directors is accepting applications for an Early Career member of the Board to serve from November 2025 through November 2027. The Early Career member is a voting member of the Board and provides the perspective of members who are early in their careers.

Requirements:

  • The Early Career member of the Board of Directors will possess a doctoral degree (medicine or PhD)
  • The Early Career member will be no more than five years post-training, as of the application date, and currently working in clinical practice (any work setting – academia, community hospital, private lab, commercial referral, esoteric/specialty, etc.)
  • Previous service as Junior member of a committee is a plus but is not required
  • Must be able to attend Board meetings
    • Virtual Board meetings are typically March, September, and December
    • In-person meetings are held mid-year (May/June) in the DC-metro area and on-site during the AMP Annual Meeting & Expo [Boston: November 12, 2025; Seattle: November 11, 2026; Baltimore: November 2027].
    • AMP reimburses travel expenses for the mid-year in-person meeting. For the November meeting, AMP reimburses for one night’s hotel room at the meeting rate if the Board member otherwise would not be attending other sessions such as Corporate Workshop Day.

Clinical Practice Committee

Junior Member (1 position available)

The AMP Clinical Practice Committee (CPC) is accepting applications for a Junior Member to serve a two-year term, beginning in November 2025. CPC initiatives address issues pertaining to the clinical practice of molecular pathology, including practice guidelines, and the CPC oversees the work of related project working groups.

Requirements:

  • Current AMP Associate Member (student, postdoctoral fellow, or resident) at the time of CPC Junior Member selection.
  • Must be in clinical practice (any work setting - academia, community hospital, private or public health laboratory, commercial referral, esoteric/specialty, etc.).
  • Must be available for monthly virtual committee meetings.

Position description and responsibilities:

The CPC Junior Member works with the Committee to identify and prioritize scientific projects in the areas of clinical practice, innovation, and improved patient care. General responsibilities for the CPC and CPC Junior Members can be viewed here.

Technologist Member (2 positions available)

The AMP Clinical Practice Committee (CPC) is accepting applications for two Technologist members to serve a two-year term, beginning in November 2025. CPC initiatives address issues pertaining to the clinical practice of molecular pathology, including practice guidelines, and the CPC oversees the work of related project working groups.

Requirements:

  • Current AMP Technologist Member at the time of CPC Technologist member selection.
  • Must be in clinical practice (any work setting - academia, community hospital, private or public health laboratory, commercial referral, esoteric/specialty, etc.).
  • Must be available for monthly virtual committee meetings.

Position description and responsibilities:

CPC Technologist members work with the Committee to identify and prioritize scientific projects in the areas of clinical practice, innovation, and improved patient care relevant to the technologist workforce. General responsibilities for the CPC and CPC Technologist members can be viewed here.

AMP Clinical & Scientific Affairs External Representatives

AMP External Representatives provide clinical practice-related subject matter expertise and represent AMP's membership in collaborative initiatives led by other professional organizations and/or stakeholder groups. Current AMP membership is required throughout the appointment. Terms of service may vary by opportunity - see application for additional details.

Membership Affairs Committee

Junior (Trainee) Member (1 Position Available)

Term: 2 years (November 2025 – December 31, 2027)

The AMP Membership Affairs Committee (MAC) is accepting applications for one Junior Member to serve a two-year term beginning in November 2025. Junior Members must be enrolled in a training program as a student, resident, or fellow. The MAC plays a significant role in helping AMP respond to its members' needs and in facilitating the development of leaders in molecular pathology. The main qualification required is enthusiasm for AMP. Applicants must be available to attend and participate in our monthly calls, which are scheduled on the 4th Thursday of each month from 2:00-3:00pm (Eastern). Professional Relations Committee

Member & Junior Member

The AMP Professional Relations Committee (PRC) is accepting applications for one regular member  to serve up to three (3) two-year terms; and one junior member to serve a two-year term, beginning in November 2025. The PRC is the primary liaison between AMP and other organizations. Major responsibilities of the Committee include communicating and coordinating activities with the appropriate government, patient, and professional organizations to inform policy and reimbursement discussions that influence the practice of molecular pathology; developing AMP positions on emerging issues affecting molecular pathology; and interacting with a wide variety of entities, including other professional associations, Congress and U.S. Federal Agencies such as FDA, CDC, DHHS. Applicants must be available for monthly committee calls.

Publications Committee

The AMP Publications Committee (Pubs) is accepting applications for one junior member to serve a two-year term and two regular members with subject matter expertise in infectious diseases and/or informatics to serve up to three (3) two-year terms, beginning in November 2025. The Publications Committee has certain responsibilities for AMP’s official journal, The Journal of Molecular Diagnostics (JMD), which is co-owned by the American Society for Investigative Pathology (ASIP). The Publications Committee does not oversee JMD’s production or editorial functions; however, it may request or receive information and make recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor. Junior Member (1 position available)

Pubs junior member works with the Committee to bring publication issues, propose new projects, and identify resources relevant to trainees to the Committee. Experience in peer-reviewed scientific journal publication management appropriate to an Associate Member’s level of practice is desired but not required.   • Must be available for monthly committee conference calls on the 2ND Wednesday of the month at 2:00PM Eastern.

Regular Member (2 positions available)

Pubs regular members are expected to have experience in scientific journal publication management (e.g., reviewer, editorial board member, editorial office, business success, etc.). While the Committee does not handle journal production, it provides strategic input, reviews Case Reports for publication, and may suggest new publication initiatives. Detailed member responsibilities can be viewed here.

Requirements:

  • Current AMP Member and membership must remain current throughout the term of service.
  • Candidates are expected to have at least 2 years post-fellowship clinical practice experience and to be currently in clinical practice.
  • Committee membership should represent the full range of practice areas within the AMP membership (e.g., Genetics, Hematopathology, Infectious Diseases, Informatics, Solid Tumors) as well as other relevant perspectives and backgrounds.
  • Must be available for monthly committee conference calls on the 2ND Wednesday of the month at 2:00PM Eastern.

Training & Education Committee

Junior (Trainee) Member (1 position available)

Term: 2 years (November 2025 - December 2027).

Requirements:

  • Current AMP membership
  • Must be available for monthly committee conference calls on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 4:00PM Eastern
  • Cannot be employed by or be an owner of an "ineligible company" (i.e., commercial entity or lab that offers proprietary tests) as defined by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), to comply with the ACCME rules for CME.
  • Trainee applicants must be in a current clinical training program as a Fellow, Resident, or Student (MD and/or PhD).

Position description and responsibilities:

The Training & Education Committee oversees important issues such as certification in molecular pathology, mentoring of trainees, and education in molecular pathology. General responsibilities specific to the medical technologist and junior members can be viewed here.
